WHAT IS DHEA?
DHEA is the most common hormone in our bodies and is referred to as "the mother of all hormones". It is the precursor to over 50 other hormones. DHEA is an abbreviation for Dehydroepiandrosterone. DHEA is produced in the adrenal glands and is converted on command to specific hormones the body needs to maintain bodily functions, including testosterone. DHEA is also responsible for producing hormones that control fat and mineral metabolism and stress tolerance.
Natural levels of DHEA hit peak levels around the age of twenty and then decrease as we age. In fact, levels of DHEA when we are 80 are only 10% to 20% that of levels at age 20. Many researchers believe that decreasing levels of DHEA contribute to symptoms normally associated with aging as well as many degenerative conditions such as cancer and arteriosclerosis or hardening of the arteries.
Research confirms that supplementing with pharmaceutical DHEA can compensate for the lowering of DHEA levels as we age.
DOES SUPPLEMENTING WITH DHEA CAUSE MY BODY TO PRODUCE LESS?
No. This is true with taking other hormones, but not with DHEA in the potencies that are used with supplementing.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO TAKE DHEA SUPPLEMENTS?
Since DHEA is fat soluble, it is considered best to take it with meals. Production of DHEA by the adrenal glands occurs maximally in the morning. Thus, administration of the supplement in the morning with breakfast is recommended.
WHAT IS PROTODIOSCIN?
Protodioscin, which is classified as a furostanol saponin, is the active ingredient of the plant extract of Tribulus Terrestris.
HOW DOES PROTODIOSCIN WORK?
Protodioscin stimulates the production of luteinizing hormone (LH), which sends a signal to the testes to produce more testosterone.
WHAT IS THE BEST SOURCE OF PROTODIOSCIN?
The best source is Bulgarian Tribulus Terrestris crop. Other common sources are Tribulus crop from China and India. Fertilizer, soil composition and harvesting cycles of Bulgarian Tribulus yield a much more potent crop, typically with 4 times the Protodioscin of other Tribulus sources. Bulgarian Tribulus is typically 10 times the cost of the Indian or Chinese Tribulus.
IS PROTODIOSCIN A STEROID?
No. You are not taking synthetic testosterone. You are safely and naturally stimulating your body to produce more testosterone. There are no known negative side effects or health risks resulting from Protodioscin.
SHOULD DHEA & PROTODIOSCIN BE TAKEN IN CYCLES?
Research is somewhat lacking, but there is testing that supports a benefit of cycling both DHEA and Protodioscin. The recommended cycle is eight weeks on, one week off, eight on, one off, etc. The luteinizing hormone stimulation response to Protodioscin is increased after taking periodic short breaks from administration. The same is true or DHEA; taking periodic breaks avoids a tolerance effect.
SHOULD DHEA AND PROTODIOSCIN BE TAKEN TOGETHER?
Yes! This is very important, since DHEA is used to produce a host of hormones in addition to testosterone. The Protodioscin directs the DHEA to the metabolic pathway of testosterone production.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF DHEA AND PROTODIOSCIN?
According to research and testing:
- Less adrenal fatigue
- Better stress tolerance
- Increased bone density
- Better immune function
- Mood control
- Increased energy
- Increased muscle mass and strength
- Faster recovery from work outs
- Improved body fat control
- Increased sex drive and sperm count
WHEN SHOULD I START TO SEE RESULTS?
Typically within 3 to 4 weeks.
WHAT AGE RANGE WILL BENEFIT MOST?
Typically starting from late 30's.
